Kohima, May 27 (NE): The special train from Bangalore to Dimapur which is scheduled to start from May 28, 2020 with over 1600 stranded citizens of Nagaland is postponed till further notice.
The Nodal Officer for stranded citizens outside Nagaland, Shanavas C IAS, confirmed that the train from Bangalore to Dimapur which was supposed to start on May 28, has been postponed as decided by the concern authorities in view of the quarantine facilities.
Mughato Kiba, President, Naga Students Union, Bangalore (NSUB) and Convener Naga Task Force Bengaluru, also informed that the special train scheduled to travel from Bangalore to Dimapur on May 28, 2020 with 1610 passengers on board stands postponed until further notice. Further dates will be communicated once we receive any information from Govt of Nagaland, he added.
‘With many stranded people arriving in Nagaland through own transport and buses, the quarantine place is already filled and also with 9 positive cases of COVID-19, GoN has decided to postpone the scheduled train until further notice,’ he added.
NSUB, Vice President, Zakietuo Noudi confirming the news to NagalandExpress, said that many people have vacated their rooms and left the staff room because the train was scheduled for tomorrow, May 28.
Now, the train has been postponed, many people are homeless and we do not have facilities to accommodate them. The students union leaders are bombarded with calls and these people needs immediate attention, Zakietuo added.
