Rishi Kapoor passes away at 67

Kohima, April 30 (NE): Bollywood actor, director and producer Rishi Kapoor breathed his last in a hospital in Mumbai at 08:45 am on Thursday. The actor was admitted to the H N Reliance Foundation Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Rishi Kapoor is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor, son Ranbir and daughter Riddhima. He was last seen in the 2019 films The Body and Jhootha Kahin Ka.

Rishi Kapoor spent almost a year in New York being treated for cancer and returned to Mumbai last September.

Rishi Kapoor was born Rishi Raj Kapoor, in Chembur, Bombay on September 04, 1952. He was the second son of actor-director Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna Raj Kapoor (née Malhotra).

Rishi received the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his debut role in his father- Raj Kapoor’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker. He had his first lead role as an adult, opposite Dimple Kapadia, in the film Bobby (1973), and won the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1974.

Rishi played leading roles as the romantic lead in 92 films between 1973 and 2000. For his performance in Do Dooni Chaar, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor in 2011, and for his role in Kapoor & Sons, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017. He was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
