Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue comprising of all MLAs & MPs constituted

Kohima, June 11 (NEx): The Nagaland Government has notified that a Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue comprising of all the 60 (sixty) Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, and the 2(two) Members of Parliament from Nagaland, has been constituted.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is the Convenor of the Parliamentary Committee, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton and Leader of Opposition, TR Zeliang is the Co-Convenor and Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue, Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu is the Member Secretary. All Ministers, Advisors, Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are the members of the Parliamentary Committee, said a DIPR report on Friday.

A 15 member Core Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political issue was also constituted including members from Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Naga People’s Front (NPF) and independent MLA and Minister.

G. Kaito Aye, Minister, Agriculture & Cooperation, Metsubo Jamir, Minister, Rural Development, H. Chuba Chang, MLA and Toshi Wungtung, Advisor, IPR, SCERT, VG are the Core Committee members from NDPP.

P. Paiwang Konyak, Minister, TPT, Land Resources Development, Jacob Zhimomi, Minister, PHE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor, IT, Science and Technology, NRE, Dr. Longrineken, and Advisor, TA, NH, H. Haying, Advisor, Prisons & PS are the core committee members from BJP.

Imkong L. Imchen, MLA, Yitachu, MLA, Y. M. Yollow Konyak, MLA, Dr. Chotisuh Sazo, MLA and Dr. Chumben Murry, MLA are the members from NPF. Tongpang Ozukum, Minister, Housing and Mechanical (Independent) is also the member of the core committee, DIPR report stated.

The newly constituted Parliamentary Committee shall discuss matters relating to the Naga Political issue and play the role of Facilitator in the ongoing Peace Talks between the Government of India and the Naga Political Groups, it informed.
