Dimapur, February 28 (NE): The NSCN (IM) reiterated its demand for a separate Naga Flag and Constitution and accused the Government of India (GoI) of a “Double Standard Policy” said a statement issued after an emergency joint council meeting held at Hebron.
The NSCN (IM) stated that the final agreement with Government of India should be a ‘Naga Solution’ for all Nagas, wherever they are. It also reiterated its stand on National Flag and Constitution, as it represent ‘National Identity’ and recognition of the same is a matter of right of the Nagas for an honourable political solution.
Expressing condemnation in strongest term, the NSCN (IM) has cautioned central government from using its agencies including National Investigation Agency (NIA) to arrest and harass the members of the group, who are in political negotiations with GoI for past twenty two years. The political talks between the GoI and NSCN (IM) must move forward in the spirit of mutual respect, it added.
The emergency joint council meeting also resolved to uphold the mandate of the Naga people given to NSCN on January 21, 2005, to conclude an honorable solution to the Naga political issue and the unification of all Naga areas. It also decided to uphold the Framework Agreement signed with GoI in August 2015.
NSCN shall continue to endeavour to conclude an honourable political solution that is acceptable to the Naga people,” said the statement.
