NPF demands action against NDPP members for violation of Election Code of Conduct

Kohima, November 03 (NEx): The Central Office of the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) writes to the District Election Officer, Kohima demanding action against the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) leaders for violating the election code of conduct and indulging in creating chaos and commotion in the electioneering process today, at 14 Southern Angami – 1 assembly constituency.

The NPF in a rejoinder to the complaint filed by the NDPP stated that ‘in the early hours of the polling day, some of the top functionaries of NDPP led by its Working Committee President, Alemtemshi Jamir was going to Jakhama with an intention to disturb the peaceful environment of polling process, which was followed by Mr. Pukhai, Advisor to Govt of Nagaland.’

‘Later on the day, Mr. Zhaleo Rio, Advisor to Govt of Nagaland went to Jakhama Town with unidentified youths who are not an electorate of the 14 Southern Angami – 1 assembly constituency.’

The NPF alleged that the intention of the Advisor was actually to disturb the peaceful polling process. The ill motive of the NDPP is thoroughly exposed as some of their party officials including the elected members are indulging in creating chaos and commotion in the electioneering process, NPF stated.

NPF further stated that ‘No elected members from other Assembly constituencies are allowed to enter the parameter of any other Assembly constituency other than their respective Assembly constituency on the polling day’, but the elected members of NDPP has violated the election code of conduct and visited 14- Southern Angami – 1 assembly constituency on the polling day, November 03, 2020.

While highlighting the violation of the elected members to DEO Kohima, the NPF demanded action against the NDPP members as per the provisions of law.

The party also stated that the complaints lodged by NDPP is baseless and an expression of frustration as their ill motive of disturbing the peaceful polling process could not be fulfilled.
