NDPP demands for re-poll at Jakhama- 1 Polling Station 12; Lodge complaint

Kohima, November 03 (NEx): Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) lodged a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Kohima demanding that re-poll be declared at Jakhama- 1 polling station 12, since normal electioneering process is not being allowed to proceed.

The NDPP in their complaint letter on November 03, 2020, called for urgent and immediate attention of the DEO on a situation that has developed at the said polling station and alleged that the NPF party functionaries are not allowing genuine voters of the polling station to enter the perimeter of the said polling station by forcefully restricting them at the National Highway. It also mentioned that hundreds of voters were threatened and intimidated and disallowed to cast their votes.

The party said that the senior party leaders and elected representatives of the NDPP on receiving the information arrived at the said location to assess the situation and meet with the designated magistrates in-charge. However, the supporters and workers of the NPF party forcefully evicted the NDPP leaders, hurling verbal abuses at them even though the leaders were well outside the perimeter of the polling station, it alleged.

While the NDPP claimed that their leaders had not done anything to incite or create a situation, it alleged that the NPF supporters had illegally made video recordings which have been made to go viral and at the same time verbally abused and evicted the leaders of NDPP.

Further, the NDPP demanded that re-poll be declared at the particular polling station since normal electioneering process is not being allowed to proceed. The party also demanded that the person who has illegally video recorded be booked under relevant cyber laws and necessary actions initiated against those persons.
