Nagaland tax revenue collection likely to achieve the target of 631.55 Crores for 2019 – 2020; Governor

Kohima, January 17 (NE): Nagaland Governor Shri. R N Ravi addressing the first day of the fifth session of the thirteenth assembly on January 17, 2020 said Nagaland tax revenue collection most likely to achieve the target of 631.55 Crores for the year 2019 – 2020.

Ravi said that the Taxation Department has collected tax revenue of Rs 433.45 crores from April to October 2019, as against the collection of Rs 375.99 crores during the same period last year, and Nagaland State Lotteries is also likely to earn revenues in excess of Rs 23 crores this year. However, he added that the revenue generation is far short of the expenditure that we need for developmental and non-developmental activities, he added.

Governor also highlighted various achievements and issues and expressed confidence that the session through enlightened deliberations will add decorum and prestige to the House.

Ravi concluding his speech said that the Government remains steadfast in its efforts to ensure that the positive fruits of development and progress reaches every nook and corner of Nagaland and further call upon the august House to show a spirit of oneness and sincerity in deliberating upon all issues of public interest as well as the myriad challenges confronting the State in right earnest, so that together we can contribute in guiding the State and its people to a better, more secure and prosperous future, he added.
