Nagaland reports it’s first COVID-19 recovery: 8 patients tested negative

Nagaland reports it's first COVID-19 recovery as eight (8) COVID-19 patients tested negative in Dimapur on June 6, 2020. This was informed by Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom.

Kohima, June 06 (NE): Nagaland reports it’s first COVID-19 recovery as eight (8) patients tested negative, today, June 06, 2020. The second test for COVID-19 result turned negative for eight of the returnees from Chennai and they are under the process of discharge from the hospital for home quarantine under active surveillance, informed Nagaland Health Minister, S Pangnyu Phom.

The total positive cases in the state as of today stands at 107. Out of this, 8 have recovered after treatment in COVID-19 district hospital, Dimapur, which is the first recovery reported so far in Nagaland state.

The first case of COVID-19 in Nagaland was reported on May 25, 2020 when three (3) returnees from Chennai tested positive. Within 13 days, the number of positive cases in the state rose to 107. All of the persons who tested positive for COVID-19 are Chennai returnees who reached Nagaland in a special train on May 22, 2020.

Health Minister, Shri Pangnyu Phom took to Twitter to share his happiness on the recovery of eight (8) patients in the state of Nagaland.

His tweet reads, ‘Very delighted to share that 8 patients admitted at COVID-19 hospital, Dmp were tested negative for COVID-19 in second test. They have been shifted to COVID-19 Care Centre and they are under the process of discharge for home quarantine under active surveillance’- unquote.

Till date a total of 3,959 samples have been collected for testing and the results of 2,619 samples have been received, out of which 107 are positive for COVID-19. The results of 1,340 samples are awaited, informed Nagaland Principal Secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha IAS. Meanwhile, with eight recoveries, the active cases in Nagaland stands at 99 as of this evening.

Through the Truenat testing machine, so far, a total of 102 samples have been tested and all are negative.

A total of 4,983 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine, said Sinha.
