Nagaland reports highest ever single day recoveries of 965 COVID patients on June 9th

Kohima, June 09 (NEx): Nagaland reported the highest ever single day recoveries of 965 COVID patients on Wednesday, June 09, 2021, as per the information from the Health and Family Welfare Department. With this, the active positive cases have reduced from 4676 to 3893 in 24 hours.

Out of the total recoveries reported today, 848 are from Kohima, 74 from Dimapur, 11 each from Mon & Phek, 6 from Zunheboto, 3 from Peren and 1 each from Wokha &Tuensang, H&FW updated. The total recovery tally in the state stands at 18,261 on Wednesday, it added.

Nagaland also reported 186 new Covid positive cases, taking the total tally to 23,237 on Wednesday, the health department updated in the daily bulletin.

Out of 186 new COVID-19 positive cases reported, 92 cases were detected in Mokokchung, 34 in Kohima, 28 in Dimapur, 11 in Zunheboto, 6 in Mon, 5 in Phek, 3 each in Wokha & Longleng, 2 in Tuensang and 1 each in Peren & Kiphire.

The state also reported 3 deaths related to COVID-19, taking the death toll to 421. Out of 3 deaths, 1 each are from Kohima, Mokokchung and Phek, the department updated.

It is pertinent to note that the State is under complete-lockdown since May 14, 2021. The good news of the highest ever single day recoveries of COVID-19 patients came at a day when the State government has decided to extend the lockdown till June 18, 2021, with further relaxations.

Meanwhile, the State is also bracing to vaccinate most numbers of people at the minimum time. Various districts have been conducting special vaccination drive with an aim to prevent the spread of Covid positive cases in the District.

The announcement made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Centre taking back total control of vaccination drive, will be implemented in the next two weeks. The Centre will give free vaccines to states to vaccinate those above 18 years of age from June 21st. Following this announcement, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed gratitude to PM Modi and said it will greatly reduce the burden of the state government.
