Nagaland reports 21 new COVID-19 positive cases today, State tally at 4128

Kohima, September 05 (NEx): Nagaland reported 21 new COVID-19 positive cases today, September 05, 2020 taking the total tally to 4128. Active cases stands at 689.

Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom updated that 21 new COVID-19 positive cases has been confirmed in the State out of 480 sample results received today.

Among the new cases detected, 8 cases each are from Dimapur and Kohima, 4 in Mon and 1 in Phek. Also, there has been a report of 68 patients who recovered from COVID-19, informed Pangnyu.

Contact tracing have been activated by our IDSP Team & all primary contacts are kept under self isolation, he added.

The State Nodal Officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, H&FW issued segregated data of COVID-19 positive cases reported in Nagaland on September 05, 2020. Out of the new 21 cases reported, 05 positive cases are among Armed Force personnel, 04 returnees, 07 traced contacts and 05 frontline workers were tested positive for COVID-19, it said.

With 21 new cases, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in Nagaland rises to 4128 today. Out of this, 1745 postive cases are among the Armed Force personnel, which is around 42% of the total tally. Meanwhile, 307 frontline workers in Nagaland also tested COVID positive while fighting against the pandemic. As per the severity of symptoms, 683 active cases are asymptomatic and 06 active cases are mild. Also, a total of 923 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.

Meanwhile, the health minister also informed of 68 recoveries among the COVID- positive patients, 34 patients are from Kohima, 25 in Mon and 09 in Dimapur. Total recovery tally stands at 3419.

So far, the State has reported eight (8) deaths due to COVID-19. Two (2) deaths of COVID-19 patient are not due to COVID-19 and five (5) death cases in Dimapur are under investigation, informed Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Department.
