Nagaland Reduces Petrol and Diesel Price From Feb 22nd Midnight

Dimapur, February 22 (NEx): The Government of Nagaland reduced tax on diesel, petrol and other motor spirit with effect from midnight of February 22, 2021.

A notification from the Finance Department (Revenue branch), Government of Nagaland on Monday stated that the rate of tax on diesel has been amended from 17.5% to 16.50% or rupees 10.51 per litre, whichever is higher.

While, the rate of tax on petrol and other motor spirit has been amended from 29. 80% to 25% or rupees 16.04 per litre, which ever is higher, stated the notification issued by the Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Sentiyanger Imchen.

The amended rate of tax shall come into effect from midnight of Monday, February 22, 2021 onwards, it stated.

According to Indian Oil Corporation official website on Wednesday, the petrol price in Dimapur stands at Rs 93.01 per litre and Diesel price at Rs 83.92 per litre. Meanwhile, in the State capital Kohima, the petrol price stands at Rs 93.93 per litre and Diesel price at Rs 84.65 per litre.

According to the revised tax, the petrol price will reduce Rs Rs.2.22 per litre and Diesel by Rs 0.57 paise per litre from midnight of February 22, 2021.

The Governor of Nagaland notified the rate of tax, in exercise of powers conferred by Sub-Section 3 of Section 3A of Nagaland (Sales of petroleum and petroleum products including motor spirit and lubricants) Taxation Act, 1967 (as amended), as prescribed under the entry serial number 3 & 4 of Schedule II of the Act.
