Kohima, May 14 (NE): Global pandemic COVID-19 has already punched a big hole in the pocket; Daily wagers, labourers losing jobs, paying extra for fuel, essential commodities price hike, etc are side effects of a deadly virus in every lives. In addition to all these, now, be ready to shell out fine for not wearing face mask too.
A recent incident reported under Peren district in Nagaland on May 12, 2020 said, the administration were pressing a charge of Rs. 100 as fine from people for not wearing face masks in public places.
A receipt issued by the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jalukie reads out- ‘Received a Sum of Rs 100 as fine for violating National directives for COVID-19 management, under section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act 2005’ – unquote.
This action is in continuation to the order issued by ADC, Jalukie on May 08, 2020 in which the general public were directed to wear a face mask, even homemade, mandatory in all public places.
Another report from Dimapur also said that the fine has been imposed for violating the lockdown orders.
Further, it was stated that violating this lockdown measures and national directives for COVID-19 managements will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act 2005, beside legal action under sec. 188 of IPC.
Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi on his fifth address to the nation on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 confirmed that the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown will be extended to a fourth phase but it will have “totally different” rules.
“Coronavirus is here to stay, experts say. But we cannot let our lives be controlled by Corona. We will have to live with it. We will wear masks and maintain physical distancing but not give up on our dreams,” said PM Modi in his address.
Perhaps, we will have to adopt to this new lifestyle of living with Corona, while following all orders and protocols issued by the authorities to save its people from the deadly virus.
