Nagaland: District Hospital, Mon to Upgrade to Govt. Medical College

Kohima, September 04 (NEx): The Health Ministry, Government of India has approved to upgrade the District Hospital, Mon to a full-fledged government medical college in Nagaland.

The news was shared by Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom today. Health Minister thanks the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister, Shri Harsh Vardhan for approving and sanctioning new Government Medical College in Nagaland by upgrading the district hospital Mon.

Taking to twitter, Pangnyu said, this landmark decision of the Union Government will boost Nagaland Government’s effort to revolutionise the state health sector.

The approval of a new Medical College has fulfilled the long cherished dream of the people of Nagaland and Eastern Nagas in particular, said the tweet.

Sources informed that this is part of the Centre-sponsored program Human Resources for Health and Medical Education, which was launched for the establishment of new medical colleges by upgrading district or referral hospitals preferably in underserved districts of the country with fund sharing between the Central government and State government in the ratio of 90:10 for North Eastern and special category States.
