Nagaland Closes School For Classes 1 to 8 With Immediate Effect

Kohima, April 19 (NEx): In view of the steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the country, and the urgent need for taking measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the State, Nagaland Government on Monday ordered the closure of all the Schools in the State, including the residential Schools, for students of Class 1 (one) to Class 8 (eight), with immediate effect till further orders.

The order issued from the office of the Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland, stated that the kindergarten/pre-primary Classes in all the Schools in the State shall also continue to remain closed.

Further, the Schools may continue imparting teaching through online mode for all the Classes, and carrying out other activities with strict adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviours and other necessary measures, it said.

However, it said that the conduct of regular classes for students of Class 9 (nine) to Class 12 (twelve) will continue for now, subject to strict adherence to all the provisions of the SOP issued on 1st February 2021. It also said that the ongoing HSLC and HSSLC Examinations, 2021, will continue with strict observance of all the provisions of the SOP for preventing the spread of COVID-19 issued on March 12, 2021.

Further, the order said that the office order of even number dated 16th March 2021, for re-opening of Schools for Classes I (one) to 5 (five) stand superseded with the issue of this Order, and office orders of even number dated 1st, February 2021, and 12th March 2021, for re-opening of Schools for Class VI and above, and residential schools respectively, stand partially modified to the above extent.
