Nagaland braveheart, Methna Konyak laid to rest

Kohima, August 01 (NEx): The Rifleman Methna Konyak was laid to rest in full military honours in his native town of Mon, today, August 01, 2020.

The braveheart made a supreme sacrifice for the Nation while fighting insurgents in Manipur on July 29, 2020 at Khongtal area of Manipur’s Chandel district near the Indo-Myanmar border. The mortal remains of the martyr was brought to his hometown on July 31, 2020, said a press release from Assam Rifles PRO, HQ IGAR (N).

Three Assam Rifles personnel were killed and five others were injured in an ambush by an insurgent group near the India-Myanmar border in Manipur.

Police personnel, President Konyak Union, President Konyak Students Union and well-wishers were present to pay homage to the slain soldier, it said.

Offering condolences to the bereaved family members, Commandant Mon Battalion assured all necessary support and assistance from Assam Rifles.
