Mumbai Indians Select Khrievitso Kense As Support Player For IPL 2021

Kohima, March 04 (NEx): In a good news to Nagaland Cricket, the 16-year old leg-spinner, Khrievitso Kense has been selected as a support player by Five times Indian Premier League (IPL) champion, Mumbai Indians for IPL 2021 season, informed Nagaland Cricket Association, Secretary, Hyunilo Anilo Khing on Thursday.

Khing took to Twitter and updated on this latest development. ‘Delighted to inform that our young leggy Khrievitso Kense has been selected as a support player by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2021 season. Talent spotted and time to nurture the young gun,’ Khing tweeted.

Khing informed NagalandExpress that, he received an email communication today from Mumbai Indians Management about Kense’s selection. As a support player, Kense will be just like any other player in the Mumbai Indians team. He will bowl in the nets during practice session with the team’. Kense will join the Mumbai Indians camp on March 10, 2021, he added.

Earlier, cricket fans from Nagaland were disappointed as Khrievitso Kense found no buyer during the VIVO IPL player auction which was held on February 18, 2021 at Chennai. Kense was the youngest Indian player who was among the 292 players shortlisted for VIVO IPL 2021 player auction.

It is important to note that, ahead of the IPL auction, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals had called Kense for trials. Kense underwent 5 days trial with Mumbai Indians at Mumbai Reliance Cricket Ground and two days trail with Rajasthan Royals in Nagpur.

Khrievitso Kense is the son of Atuo & Neibunuo Kense from Sovima Village in Dimapur. Kense started playing Cricket in the local grounds since the age of 13. He is a right arm leg spinner and right handed batsman.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, Nagaland Olympic Association congratulated Kense for his selection by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2021.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said, ‘I’m happy to know that Khrievitso Kense is selected as a support player by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2021 season. I wish him the best as he joins the team for pre-IPL preparation camp and be with them till the end of IPL 2021. I hope he plays a vital role in contributing to the team’s success’ – CM Rio tweets.
