Kohima, March 27 (NEx): The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) in an advisory to all states and territories on Friday, March 26th, 2021, extended the validity of motor vehicle documents including Driving Licence (DL), Registration Certificate (RC) and Vehicle Permits till June 30th, 2021.

The Ministry is extending the validity for fitness, permit, driving licence, registration and other documents which had expired since February 1st, 2020, or would expire by March 31st, 2021 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Taking into consideration the grim situation still continuing due to conditions for prevention of spread of COVID-19 across the country, the central government advised that the validity of all of the above-referred documents whose extension of validity could not be, or was not likely to be, granted due to lock-down and/or COVID -19 and which had expired since 1st of February, 2020 or would expire by 30th June 2021, the same may be treated to be valid till 30th June, 2021.

It further advised the enforcement authorities to treat such documents valid till June 30th, 2021, so that the citizens, transporters, and various organizations, which are operating under this difficult time, may not get harassed and face difficulties.

Earlier, at the beginning of lockdown last year, the MoRTH extended the vehicle related documents on March 30th, 2020, June 9th, 2020, August 24th, 2020, December 27th, 2020 & now the latest issue was on March 26th, 2021 and the ministry said this might be the last time to issue the extension.
