Kohima, June 29: The Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation, Railways, and Land Resources Shri. P. Paiwang Konyak in a review meeting at Walo Guest house, Mon Town, today, announced to purchase 625 Antigen Kits (COVID-19 rapid testing kit) and Confirmatory Kit to be used after TrueNat test on the positive cases, instead of referring to ICMR Dibrugarh for confirmation of COVID-19. The Minister donated Rs. 4,50,000 to buy these kits and also donated Rs. 65,000 to pay the salaries of 13 fixed pay employees of District Hospital Mon.
In the meeting, Minister Paiwang appreciated KSU for the withdrawal of their earlier order dated June 25, 2020 and encouraged them to work and sacrifice for the well being of the Citizens of Mon district.
The Minister also acknowledged Mr. Hongnaw Konyak for his humanitarian work towards the people of Mon district by providing 24X7 Free Ambulance service. Paiwang appealed all the citizens to follow the exemplary footsteps of Mr. Hongnaw.
He also said that the inmates of the COVID Care Centre Mon will be compulsorily tested. Altogether, 248 returnees had been released out of 1397 returnees received by Mon district so far. The returnees who were Quarantined at Naginimora, Angjangyang, and Papong Ward, Mon Town, will also be released, he added.
The testing of First Contact people in the Containment zone have already begun but no positive cases were reported at the time of filing this report. Therefore, the Minister requested the citizens not to panic but bear the inconveniences while strictly following SOPs.
While updating about Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police Mon, Minister said that the results of DC and SP Mon came negative for COVID-19. The barber who cut their hairs will be tested on June 30th, after which the second testing of DC and SP will follow. If their results come negative in the second testing, they can resume their respective Office, he added.
