Kohima, October 12 (NEx): The Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Justice & Law, Government of Nagaland, C. M. Chang, (Chongshen Mongkosungkum Chang) passed away at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), today. He was 78.

C. M. Chang, is one of the tallest leaders in Nagaland, belonging to Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party. He was born in Noksen Village, under Tuensang district of Nagaland on April 01, 1942.

He is a retired IAS officer and worked as Secretary in the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland until his voluntary retirement in 2002 to contest his first NLA General Election in 2003.

In the 2009 election he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Nagaland Lok Sabha constituency. In 2013 Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections, he was elected from 51/Noksen (Vidhan Sabha constituency) and became the Minister of Education. He contested 2003, 2008, 2013 general elections and 2009 Lok Sabha election from NPF party ticket.

On 2018, he joined the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and won the general election for (NLA) the second time and is appointed as Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate change and Justice & Law.

Nagaland Deputy CM Y Patton, Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi, Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along, along with others condoles the demise of Minister, CM Chang.

Tokheho Yepthomi, Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland in a tweet said, ‘I am Deeply saddened by the passing of Shri CM Chang, Minister, Nagaland. He served the people and our State as a Govt official and went on to serve as MLA. A valued colleague during our tenure together in the NLA. Condolences to his family. May he rest in peace’.

Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton said, ‘My condolences go out to the bereaved family of Minister Shri C.M. Chang’.

Shri Chang had always kept the welfare of the people first, whether as an IAS officer, a Lok Sabha MP, or as a Minister. In his demise, we’ve suffered today an irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace! – tweets Deputy CM.

Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along said, ‘deeply saddened to know about the demise of Minister for Environmental, Forest & Climate Change and Justice & Law, Shri. C.M. Chang. My condolences to the bereaved family.

His contribution to the progress of the State is commendable. His absence will be deeply missed. RIP – unquote.
