Mask Awareness programme by 'A Better Dimapur' under DMC launched at Dimapur, today

Dimapur, May 22 (NE): Shri. Jacob Zhimomi, Hon’ble Minister, PHED Govt. of Nagaland launched the Mask Awareness programme by ‘A Better Dimapur’, an initiative of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on May 22, 2020 at The Garden, Supermarket area Dimapur.

Minister also handed over the Fogging Machine (Sodium Hydrochloride) to team Dimapur for sanitising Dimapur Town.

During the launch, Minister said that as the whole world was unprepared including India, so is the state of Nagaland. We want to assure and encourage that the state government is not sleeping over this pandemic. Despite limited resources in such a short notice, we have accumulated all the resources available with the govt. State govt is trying the best along with the rest of the country to get the medical equipment, he added.

The minister also said that we all know every problem has a solution or for every sickness there is a cure but for this pandemic virus the only medicine or solution is prevention, Social distance, Importance of wearing mask, Hand sanitising.These are the only solutions available for humankind as of now and we should spread this awareness, he added.

Smti Moamongla Aier, Assistant Professor, DGC Dimapur was the Chairperson of the inaugural, Shri. Albert Ezung NCS, Administrator, DMC, Shri Anoop Kinchi, IAS, DC Dimapur, Shri Rothihu Tetseo, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Shri Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, APC and COVID-19 incharge Dimapur also gave short speeches at the inaugural event. Rev. Moses Murry, Chairman, Christian Forum Dimapur led the prayer.

For the first phase, protective mask gift hampers were handed over to Team Clean Dimapur, Driver’s Union, Vegetable Vendor’s Union, Labourers’ Union, and 500 masks for the quarantine centre in Dimapur along with 1000 Bibles donated by The Gideons International Society.

Each re-usable protective masks has been sewn by local tailors and designers from Dimapur. These masks has been made by the resources pooled in by the members of ‘A Better Dimapur’.

“We also attached do’s and dont’s of COVID-19 along with Professional Counseling numbers which were provided to all our gift hampers and guest gift packagings. The counselors are all trained and professional psychologist / Clinical Psychologist with years of experience. They are members of “All Nagaland Counselors Association”, a notification by AoK, Dimapur said.

‘A Better Dimapur’ comprises of Team Clean Dimapur, Team Green Dimapur, Act Of Kindness (AoK), and Life NGO.
