Kohima, September 24 (NEx): India recorded 86,508 new COVID-19 positive cases and 87,374 recoveries in the last 24 hours, updates the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data.

The total case tally stands at 57, 32,518 including 9,66,382 active cases. The country also recorded 1,129 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 91,149, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare updated.

Meanwhile, so far, a total of 6,74,36,031 COVID-19 samples were tested in India till today. A total of 11,56,569 COVID-19 samples were tested on September 23, 2020, informed Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan.

Globally, in terms of number of COVID-19 positive cases, India stands at number two, while US is at the top of the table with more than 6.96 million total cases and close to 2.02 lakh deaths from COVID-19. Brazil is at the third spot with 4.63 million total cases and over 1.39 lakh deaths.
