Indian railway to run 200 non-AC trains daily from June 1: Online booking soon

Kohima, May 20 (NE): As the nationwide lockdown entered the fourth phase from May 18, 2020, Indian Railways to expand passenger trains from June 01, 2020 onwards. So far, it has been running 15 trains, but from June one, 200 more trains will be operational, said Ministry of railways on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

Indian Railways will run 200 non-air conditioned second class train daily as per the time table from June 1st. Booking of this train will be available online, it added.

The 15 passenger trains that have been running since May 12, 2020 are air-conditioned trains, now the service will involve non-air conditioned trains, which was not allowed since the nationwide lockdown.

No tickets will be sold at any railway station to travel in the new passenger trains. All categories of passengers will be allowed to book tickets which will be available online. The online booking of these trains shall commence in a few days. The routes and schedule of these trains will be informed soon, said the Railways Ministry.

The decision to introduce 200 more passenger trains has come two days after the Central government extended the nationwide lockdown in view of the soaring cases of Coronavirus.

The passengers are required to maintain rules of social distancing and use masks and sanitisers. Also, passengers with valid e-ticket will be allowed to enter the railway station, stated the Standard Operating Protocol issued by Ministry of Home Affairs.
