Kohima, January 01 (NEx): The suspended flight services between India and United Kingdom (UK) will resume from January 08, 2021, in a restricted manner, informed Union minister for Civil Aviation and Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri at New Delhi, today January 01, 2021.
Earlier, on December 21, 2020, India imposed a temporary suspension on flight services from UK after the emergence of a new and highly infectious strain of COVID-19. The suspension of flights came into effect from December 22nd midnight up till December 31st, 2020.
However, the government later extended the temporary suspension of flights to and from the UK till January 07, 2021.
Union Minister in a tweet on Friday said, it has been decided that flights between India and UK will resume from January 08, 2021. Operations till January 23, 2021 will be restricted to 15 flights per week each for carriers of the two countries to and from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad only, he added.
The Minister also mentioned that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be issuing a detailed guideline shortly.
It has been decided that flights between India & UK will resume from 8 Jan 2021.
Operations till 23 Jan will be restricted to 15 flights per week each for carriers of the two countries to & from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & Hyderabad only. @DGCAIndia will issue the details shortly
