Health Dept. Reviews Preparedness of State for 2nd Wave of COVID-19

Kohima, April 06 (NEx): In view of the impending 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare conducted a meeting on Tuesday, April 6th, 2021 at Conference Hall, DH&FW, Kohima to review the present status and assess the level of preparedness.

A press release from the Health department informed that the Principal Director, Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, who chaired the meeting, welcomed all the Officers present in the meeting and highlighted that the meeting is much needed for the preparedness of the State for the impending 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

He suggested that the department should be prepared in all power to fight the pandemic. He said, with all the ample time to prepare for the first phase of COVID-19 there has been lots of loopholes and difficulties to combat and we had a brief period of rest but now it is time to prepare ourselves with our experience we had faced earlier.

The State Nodal Officer IDSP, Dr. Nyan Kikon presented on the treatments and protocols of COVID-19 and Dr. Ritu Thur, State Immunization Officer UIP gave a presentation on the overview of COVID Vaccination.

The District authorities presented consolidated District Report on Personal Protection Logistics, Medical Oxygen Status, Equipment Status, Logistics for COVID-19 Testing: Consumables,
Logistics for COVID-19 Testing: equipment and Status of Drugs.

The District officials also highlighted suggestion/action plan as per the 1st Phase pandemic for the course of preparedness.

All Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Principal PMTI attended the meeting, the press release said.
