Gun firing at Peren town; Two NAP (IRB) personnels suspended due to public pressure

Dimapur, January 17 (NE): Two IRB personnels, namely- 131102, Constable (CN) Kakuto V. Chishi of ‘A’ Coy, 13 NAP Battalion (BN) and 130075, Havildar (Hav) Tohovi Sema of ‘A’ Coy, 13 NAP BN, both under the Commandant, 13 NAP (IR)Bn, Yajang – C, Mokokchung has been suspended with an immediate effect from today on January Seventeen under subsistence allowance system of 50% basic pay, on which they will be in Battalion Headquarter, said a notification issued by Office of the Commandant, 13 NAP (IR)Bn, Government of Nagaland.

The notification said that the case is pertaining to the accident that occurred on January Sixteen in which, the personnels under the influence of alcohol, while on duty have endangered public lives by unwanted firing at marketplace of Peren Town and ignited public outrage.

Several civil societies and organizations from Peren town have condemned the gun firing in public by the two IRB personnels on Thursday and demanded the authorities to terminate their service.

It is pertinent to note that it is one of the quick orders being given by higher authorities on public sentiments.
