Nagaland Government to bear railway charges of the journey of the stranded citizens of Nagaland, rejects Nagaland Congress Pradesh Committee (NPCC) offer to pay rail ticket costs

Kohima, May 12 (NE): Nagaland Government to bear the railway charges for the journey of stranded citizens of Nagaland to return from across the country and also within the state, said Nagaland Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy IAS, while responding to the offer by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC).

Earlier, NPCC President, K Therie offered to deposit the required amount of the cost of rail tickets for stranded citizens of Nagaland to return home.

In a letter written to Chief Secretary, Therie requested Chief Secretary to share the details of all needy workers and migrant labourers wishing to return home and the cost of their rail tickets.

This was in continuation with the decision taken by the Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi on May 04, 2020, to take the responsibility for the payment of return rail tickets for all needy workers and migrant labourers wishing to travel to their homes, he added.

Toy, while responding to the offer by the NPCC to pay for the cost of rail tickets of stranded citizens of Nagaland, said that the State Government had decided to bear the railway charges of the journey from the rest of the country and also within the state.

The state cabinet in its sitting on May 04, 2020 had discussed to undertake a detailed strategic plan to bring back all our citizens who are distressed and stranded outside the state in close coordination with the government of India, Toy added.

Further, Toy said that the arrangement will be made to facilitate the movements of stranded citizens to their respective districts within the state. Toy also extended deepest appreciation to NPCC for support and cooperation.
