Kohima, July 26 (NEx): Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year in India, on July 26 to commemorate the victory of Operation Vijay in the 1999 Kargil War. This year marks the 21st anniversary of India’s victory and a moment of great pride for every citizen of the country.

Nagaland along with the rest of the country remembers the Kargil Heroes on this day. Nagaland Governor R.N Ravi, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy CM Y Patton along with others pay homage and salute the brave soldiers and their supreme sacrifices on Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The occasion commemorates the glorious victory of the Indian Armed Forces against the Pakistan Army intruders in the Kargil, Dras and Batalik Sectors in 1999. Kargil Vijay Diwas is named After the success of Operation Vijay on this day in July 1999.

Nagaland Governor RN Ravi in a tweet said, ‘Nation salutes late Capt. Neikezhakuo Kenguruse and Sub ImliAkum Ao, both decorated with Maha Vir Chakra among other soldiers from Nagaland for their sacrifices in Kargil War.’

CM Neiphiu Rio tweets, ‘Captain Neikezhakuo is a true son of the Naga soil. He was posthumously awarded Maha Vir Chakra for exemplary valour in combat during Kargil War. His story will always be remembered & inspire generations to come.’

Dy. CM Y Patton also tweeted, ‘On Kargil Vijay Diwas, we remember the supreme sacrifices our brave soldiers made and salute their valour. We remember the exceptional courage displayed by our heroes Captain Neikezhakuo Kengurüse, Subedar Imliakum Ao among others. The nation forever remains indebted to them!’
