Fire breakout in Mokokchung & Dimapur in Nagaland; 2 houses completely gutted by fire. No casualties reported, said a notification from Fire and Emergency Services department Nagaland on Sunday, June 21, 2020

Kohima, June 21 (NE): Two Fire breakout incidents reported today, June 21, 2020, in Nagaland which gutted two houses – one Kutcha house in Mokokchung and one Assam type house in Dimapur informed a press release from Fire and Emergency Services department.

While Nagaland along with the world commemorate Father’s day today, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, fire personnel tender their dedicated services, which had stopped two major fire incidents from further spreading on Sunday.

Fire at Mokokchung;

(Fire personnel fighting fire at Kumlong Ward, Mokokchung on Sunday, June 21)

On receiving Fire call at 10:33 am, today, June 21, 2020 at Kumlong Ward, Mokokchung, Fire and Emergency Services mobilized a quick response team from Fire Station Mokokchung to control the fire.

Two fire tenders along with sufficient fire personnel pressed into action. One Kutcha house comprising of two rooms and kitchen were completely razed down in the inferno. Due to narrow passage, the Fire Personnel had much difficulty in reaching the Fire site.

However, due to timely response from Fire Team, the fire was prevented from spreading to the adjoining houses from the inferno. The cause of fire is reported to be due to LPG leakage and no casualty was reported. The response team was led by Duty Commander ASI Meyilemba Jamir & ASI Libanthung Humtsoe, said a press release from T. Shilu Jamir, Dy. SP Fire & Emergency Services department.

Fire at Dimapur:

(Fire personnel fighting fire at 4th Mile Diphupar ‘A’, Dimapur on Sunday, June 21)

In yet another incident, a fire call was received at 11:19 am, today, June 21, 2020 at 4th Mile Diphupar ‘A’, Dimapur. Fire and Emergency Services mobilized a quick response team from Fire Station Chumoukedima & Dimapur (Central) to control the fire.

Three fire tenders along with sufficient fire personnel and equipments were dispatched. Due to timely response from Fire Team, the fire was brought under control and from further spreading.

One Assam type house was completely razed down in the inferno. Property worth 70 lakhs was destroyed in the inferno.

The cause of the fire is due to short circuit and no casualty was reported. The response team was led by Duty Commander ASI Jonaba from Fire Station Chumoukedima & ASI Khamlu Phom from Fire Station Dimapur (Central), said the press release.
