Fact check: An elderly person tested COVID-19 positive, Eden hospital closed- fake news

Dimapur, July 18 (NEx): The viral report of ‘an elderly person tested positive for COVID-19 and Eden hospital closed’ is false, confirmed the Eden Medical Centre Administrator.

Speaking to NagalandExpress, the Administrator from Eden Medical Centre, Mrs. Lily, confirmed that the news doing the rounds in social media about the hospital being closed and a patient is positive in the hospital is not true.

An elderly person about 82 years of age from Zeliangrong colony Dimapur was referred to Eden Medical Centre last night from Nikos Hospital with suspected symptoms of COVID-19.

The sample of the patient has been taken by the COVID-19 team Dimapur and results are awaited informed the Administrator. The patient is a known case of pneumonia.

The hospital is not sealed, only the ICU in which the suspected COVID-19 patient is admitted has been sealed as a preventive measure and the OPD shall remain closed for today and tomorrow for precautionary measures, said the administrator.

The primary contact of the patient including hospital staff are kept in isolation, as a precaution, she added.
