Kohima, October 07 (NEx): Ex-Governor of Nagaland, Manipur and Former CBI Director, Ashwani Kumar was found hanging at his residence in Shimla on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Mohit Chawla said, according to ANI.
Former CBI director and Himachal Pradesh DGP Ashwani Kumar served as the 17th Governor of Nagaland for a period of 15 months from March 21, 2013 to June 27, 2014.
He also served as the Governor of Manipur for a period of 5 months from 29 July 2013 – 23 December 2013.
Ashwani Kumar, 69, who has worked in various positions in CBI and elite SPG, hails from Nahan, a small hill town, in Himachal Pradesh. He completed his doctorate from the Himachal Pradesh University.
He did his PhD in management and has a master’s degree in business administration with specialisation in human resources management.
An IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh Cadre, Kumar has also served in the elite Special Protection Group dealing with security of the Prime Minister of India.
