Dimapur – Kohima National Highway restricted entry for commuters from Feb 12th

Kohima, February 11 (NEx): The Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi reviewed the ongoing traffic restrictions on the Dimapur-Kohima National Highway today, and after elaborate deliberations and due regard to the safety needs of the commuters, it was decided that total restriction on traffic was no longer required and hence the Highway will be opened for the commuters – for both way traffic between 6 AM & 10 AM and between 2 PM & 5PM everyday from February 12, 2021.

The Governor expressed deep concerns over untold hardships to the public due to continuing traffic restrictions on the Highway. He also conveyed his displeasure to the Contractors for reckless rock blasting which is the cause of the heavy rock slide. He advised the State Government to explore legal actions and hold the erring contractors accountable for their reckless acts, a press release from Raj Bhavan said.

Meanwhile, the NHIDCL will ensure that the contractors place enough resources on the ground and take sufficient measures to stabilize the rocks and clear the debris without delay. The Dimapur District Administration will review the situation after one week for further easing the traffic, the press release said.
