Kohima, March 23 (NEx): The Deputy Chief Minister, Shri. Y Patton expressed shock and condemned in a strongest term on the recent incident that took place at Lamhainamdi village under Peren District on Monday, March 22, 2021.
Patton stated that the “inhuman killing of three persons was “outrageous and numbing” and terms it that such killings go against the very tenet of life.
Dy. CM has also appealed for calmness and to maintain peace and tranquility in the area to all concerns. Meanwhile, he asserted that the Government had taken cognizance of this serious issue and assured that the law will take its own course and befitting punishment will be awarded in accordance with the law of the land.
Patton also stated that the Police department has setup Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident, headed by a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, following the incident, CSOs in Peren called for a bandh in the district on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. All the business establishments, schools and offices under Peren district remain closed during the bandh.
It is also reported that, after completing all official formalities, the three persons, who were killed on Monday were laid to rest at Lamhainamdi village under Peren district, on Tuesday afternoon.
