Kohima, June 27 (NE): In a recent development on the frontline workers testing positive for COVID-19 in Mon district through the TrueNat testing machine, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer in Mon goes into self isolation.
Minister for transport, civil aviation & railways and land resources, also Minister incharge for COVID-19 activities in Mon district, Paiwang Konyak will lead the COVID-19 activities in the absence of DC, SP and CMO, Mon.
Mon district is under total lockdown since Thursday, June 25, 2020 for four days after a DEF Jawan, who was on duty at a quarantine centre where Chennai returnees are quarantined has been tested positive through a TrueNet Testing.
According to a report received to NagalandExpress, five frontline workers (Jawans) in Mon district have been tested positive for COVID-19 through TrueNat machine and their samples have been sent to ICMR Dibrugarh for confirmation. Contact tracing is currently underway.
The Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Superintendent of Police Mon, Chief Medical Officer, Mon had a hair cut with the same barber, who came in contact with a Jawan who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. It is also reported that the sample collected from the barber has tested negative in TrueNat machine, but as an abundant precaution, DC, SP and CMO Mon has gone for self isolation and they are working from home.
As DC, SP and CMO Mon goes into self isolation, Minister in Charge, Paiwang Konyak, immediately reached Mon district from Kohima in a helicopter, to personally monitor all the COVID-19 related activities in the district till DC, SP and CMO Mon are out of isolation.
Further, Minister Paiwang Konyak urged the citizens of Mon not to panic and appealed for cooperation with the administration, empowerment Committee, management of various Quarantine centres and law enforcing agents.
The Konyak Union President along with Vice President also highlighted about the current situation. Dy. SP along with other district administration and Medical Department also briefed about the current situation and their grievances to the Minister incharge.
Representatives from Mon Town Students Union (MTSU) had assured their full cooperation for the welfare of the Konyak Community in general and the citizens of Mon in particular.
