Comorbid patient dies at Niko Hospital Dimapur, sample sent for COVID test

Dimapur, July 22 (NEx): The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland updates on the death of a Comorbid patient at Nikos Hospital on July 21, 2020.

An update issued by the State Nodal Officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, Dr Nyan Kikon, today said, a 72 year old male who was declared dead on July 21, 2020 at around 08:25 pm, hailing from Bokajan, Karbi Anglong, Assam, was admitted at Nikos Hospital and Research center, Dimapur on July 14, 2020.

The patient was suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension, Coronary artery disease, Myocardial infraction, acute coronary syndrome and had Cardiogenic shock, pulmonary oedema and suffered cardio-respiratory failure, it said.

The sample for test for COVID-19 had been sent for confirmation through RT-PCR, added Dr. Nyan.

The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi IAS on July 20, 2020 ordered the temporary sealing of the ICU and Emergency ward of Nikos Hospital Dimapur, after a patient referred to Eden Medical Centre, Dimapur was tested positive for COVID-19.

Nagaland COVID-19 bulletin at 03:00 pm on July 22, 2020 reported 432 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in Dimapur district. In which 163 patients recovered from COVID-19 and the active cases in the district now stand at 269.
