Kohima, May 18 (NEx): As the week-long lockdown which started at 06:00 pm on May 14, 2021 entered the fourth day on Tuesday, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio hinted of lockdown extension if the situation demands and asked people to be prepared.
The Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio in his message to the people of Nagaland on COVID-19 situation on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, while acknowledging the inconvenience caused to the people due to lockdown, said, ‘We should be prepared that the lockdown may even need to extended if the situation required’. CM Rio further seeks the co-operation of all to ensure that the lockdown regulations are not compromised.
Meanwhile, there has not been any official statement on the extension of lockdown apart from the hints given by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, asking people to prepare for the extension, if required.
Earlier today, the High Powered Committee on COVID-19 under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took stock of all the COVID-19 related issues through a video conference with the District Task Force in all the districts of Nagaland.
Government Spokespersons on COVID-19, Neiba Kronu and Mmhonlumo Kikon informed that the High Powered Committee took note of the tireless efforts put in by the Respective District Task Force(DTF). The active coordination of the DTF and the War Room will continue in order to address any immediate concerns of the district, a Press release said.
Financial support required as presented by the DTF has been taken note of and in addition to the existing funds more will be provided depending on the requirements, it stated.
The Government is vigilant and is proactively responding to the needs of each District as per the situational assessment provided by the District Task Force, and the preparedness of all the Districts with regards to essential commodities are sufficient as of now, the press release added.
