Kohima, April 04 (NE): Finance Minister, Smti Nirmala Sitharaman announced the release of Rs 17,287 crore on Friday, April 03, 2020, to different states to enhance their financial resources to deal with the various challenges in the country’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
This announcement was made after the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted second time with all the Chief Ministers of States through a video conference in view of Covid-19 pandemic to take the stock of the state preparedness and situation.
“The Ministry of Finance, Government of India, on Friday, April 03, 2020 released a total of Rs 17,287.08 crore to different States to enhance their financial resources during the Covid-19 crisis, ” the Office of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a tweet.
This includes Rs 6,195.08 crore on account of ”revenue deficit grant” under 15th Finance Commission recommendations to 14 states. These States includes Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand & West Bengal. The remaining Rs 11,092 crore is to all States as advance payment of Central share of first instalment of SDRMF, it added.
Nagaland State receives a total grant of Rs 346.91 crores from the central government, as announced by the Finance Ministry, Government of India, as follows;
– Rupees 326.41 crores as grants-in-aid to ”Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant” to state government during 2020 – 21, as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission.
– Rupees 20.50 crores of first instalment of central share of State Disaster Response Mitigation Fund (SDRMF) to state government during 2020-21, as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission.
