Kohima, October 15 (NEx): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Thursday announced candidate for the forthcoming State assembly by-election for 14 Southern Angami – 1 constituency.
The NPF President, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu in the presence of other party dignitaries and MLA, awarded the party ticket to Shri. Kikovi Kirha, to contest in the bye-election at the 14 Southern Angami (1) Assembly Constituency, today in a function held at Party Central Office in Kohima, said a press communique from NPF media cell.
Kikovi Kirha is a longstanding party member and he is currently serving as Secretary, Central Office Bearers, NPF. The NPF wishes him the best in the upcoming election, it stated.
The by-election for 14 – Southern Angami – 1 and 60-Pungro- Kiphire constituencies in Nagaland are scheduled for November 03, 2020 to fill vacancies of two Assembly constituencies in the State Legislative Assembly. Counting will take place on November 10, 2020.
Speaking to NagalandExpress, the NPF, Secretary General, Shri Achumbemo Kikon informed that the party has not yet decided on the candidates for 60- Pungro-Kiphire constituency, it will be informed by tomorrow as it is the last day to file the nomination.
Earlier this week, Shri Lirimong Sangtam has been named as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and Kiphire District Congress Committee President, Shri Khaseo Anar has been named as Congress candidates for 60- Pungro-Kiphire assembly constituency.
According to the Election Commission of India notification, the last date for filing nominations is tomorrow (October 16, 2020).
