Kohima, November 10 (NEx): Big blow to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Nagaland, as an independent candidate sweep the bye-election to 60-Pungro-Kiphire assembly constituency. BJP placed third after two independent candidates.
In an interesting turnaround for the Bye-Election to 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency, independent candidate T Yangseo Sangtam won the election with a margin of 1527 votes. T Yangseo Sangtam got 8747 votes, with a vote share of 31.85%.
S. Kiusumew Yimchunger, another independent candidate from 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency was placed second with 7220 votes, and 26.29% vote share.
BJP candidate, Lirimong Sangtam was placed third with 5664 votes, and 20.63% vote share.
K. Shellumthong Yimchunger, an independent candidate secured the fourth place with 5388 votes and 19.62% vote share.
Meanwhile, Indian National Congress candidate, Khaseo Anar got 347 votes.
NOTA (None of the above) constitute 0.34% of total votes polled, with 94 votes.
14 Southern Angami – I Assembly Constituency:
NDPP candidate, Medo Yhokha won the 14 Southern Angami – I Assembly Constituency with a margin of 598 votes.
