82 year old COVID patient in critical condition under ventilator support in ICU at Dimapur district COVID-19 hospital dies, today

Dimapur, July 26 (NEx): An 82 year old COVID positive patient passed away today, July 26, 2020 at Dimapur. He was in a critical condition, under ventilator support in ICU at district COVID-19 hospital, Dimapur.

The deceased is said to be from Zeliangrong colony in Dimapur who was referred to Eden Medical Centre from Nikos Hospital with respiratory distress condition.

The patient was tested positive for COVID-19 in Eden Medical Centre Dimapur by TrueNat on July 18, 2020. Following which, a confirmatory RT-PCR test was conducted and the result turned positive. The patient was shifted to district COVID-19 hospital, Dimapur in ICU from EMC for further treatment on July 19, 2020.

The patient had Comorbid conditions, who is a diabetic with past history of open heart surgery and Pulmonary Tuberculosis. He was first treated at Shamrock Hospital Dimapur on July 16, 2020, then shifted to Nikos Hospital on July 17, and later to Eden Medical Centre, Dimapur.

As confirmatory test turned positive for the elderly patient, DC Dimapur has temporary sealed the Shamrock Hospital, ICU & Emergency ward of Nikos Hospital and ICU Block of Eden Medical Centre, Dimapur, House No- 15, Ward No 18, Zeliangrong Colony (Dhobinalla), Dimapur & nearby building on July 20, 2020.

Nagaland has reported 4 deaths on July 25, 2020, however, the investigation is on to establish link to COVID-19, as per an information by Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom. Out of this, 3 were serious comorbid patients. Two deceased were residents of Assam, said COVID bulletin daily report.
